after the first part with remixes by lawrence, argy and vincenzo more or less focussed on the house aspects of the original, this part emphasises the techno side of things. prolific producer denis karimani from hamburg turns „anne will“ into a minimal, thumping bass affair, that just keeps building up and up until a soaring heavy synth riff lifts it even more up and takes the mix through the roof. this is clearly the most peaktime oriented mix. jackmate: michel baumann from stuttgart sticks to the loopy and hypnotic formula of move d’s original. but instead of keeping it house for late nights, he strips the track down to its rhythmic backbone, making it bump and grind reminiscent of the minimal grooves of chicago house. production team my my from berlin tackle their remix a little different. they heavily concentrate on syncopated rhythms, providing „anne will“ with sort of a latin feel.

mathew jonson has released widely acclaimed records on labels as revered as kompakt, sub static, and m-nus; and has since established his own wagon repair imprint that is already renowned for the quality of its output. since 2004 he’s received numerous glowing accolades for his production and live performance. he established himself with tracks like typerope, folding space and decompression. he is also an accomplished live performer on his own and with cobblestone jazz. coming from a family of electronics enthusiasts; brother nathan’s disjointed beats are quite a contrast to mathew’s slick and seamless fusion of techno, house, jazz and drum ‘n’ bass. midnight operator is the jonson brothers’ first released collaboration. nathan sets the pace of this track, focusing mainly on drum programming, whilst mathew sculpts the bass and melodic content with layers of analog and digital sounds; resulting in a infectious concoction of breaks, grime and drum ‘n’ bass. this collaboration was also partly conceived as a remix project, and an opportunity for the brothers to cut up their sibling’s creations. first up for the chop is mathew’s ‘return of the zombie bikers’, with hrdvsion using ableton to cut and mix a distinct interpretation of his brother’s work on the b side.

the master of simplicity is back on with his second release on karmarouge. the story behind the titel goes like this. saint patrick was a christian missionary and is regarded as the patron saint of ireland. he banished the snakes from ireland and some irish people say that human snakes replaced them. sian asks himself if we might need a new modern saint patrick? the a-side track ‘stegosaurus’ is a creepy, slow builder and melodic track, somewhat like a placid dinosaur. ‘merman’ on the b-side is a more melancholic, angelic theme with hidden melodic patterns and messages.
